You can configure your mini apps to ask a customer to share their name and phone number when they open the mini app. This lets you automate processes inside the app, for example, using their phone number to show them their latest order status.
What a mini app may ask for is configured on each number. Every mini app opened on that number asks for the same, and the customers answer once.
Data | How you can set it |
Name | Mandatory, or optional |
Phone number | Mandatory, or optional |
If a number's mini app configuration has phone number set to mandatory, the user will not be able to use the mini apps on that number without providing it.
You cannot request data without these. For legal and privacy reasons, you must configure a Terms and Conditions URL and a Privacy Policy URL for your mini app before you can ask customers for any of this data. Both appear on the consent prompt, they must be live, public and reachable without a login.
Consent is requested once, and covers all mini apps on that number rather than being asked separately for each one.
It lasts 60 days, then expires unless renewed.
If you later ask for a permission the customer has not already granted, they are prompted to review and grant again.
Customers can review or revoke what they have shared at any time, from your business profile in the chat, or from a central settings page listing every consent they have given.
If the permission was optional, your mini app opens without the data.
If the permission was mandatory, the customer cannot proceed without sharing the data.
Go to the Numbers tab and tap the number for which you want to configure mini app settings.
Find the Mini app permissions section.
Turn on the data you want to request, and mark anything the mini app cannot work without as mandatory.
Enter your Terms and Conditions URL and Privacy Policy URL, then save.
